Avisa Partners

How We Are Different

We know how to say no.

We focus on certain clearly defined issues in which we have real expertise. We refuse potential clients when not best placed to serve them, for instance when it is too late in the EU process to be effective.

When we believe we cannot help, we refer them to consultancies with more relevant expertise. We do this on a routine basis with requests on agricultural and food issues or regional policy. We pride ourselves on implementing the most demanding ethical rules, starting with strict conflict management.

We never shy away from telling a client that his or her objective is difficult to achieve, or that the method in mind is inappropriate.

We insist on telling the truth, however unpleasant, as opposed to what the customer would like to hear.

Lawyers respect us for what we do and how we do it.

Our experience in high-profile antitrust cases for instance has allowed us to build trusted relations with many important law firms in Brussels. Our consultants enjoy a wide variety of educational backgrounds and professional experiences.

The team includes senior consultants who previously worked as: antitrust lawyer, assistant to an MEP, banker, CEO of a medium-sized company, editor, manufacturing executive, insurer, senior journalist, Commission cabinet member, NGO employee, security expert and Treasury official.

A broad spectrum of nationalities work at Avisa, including Danish, Spanish, Argentinian, American, British, Dutch, French, German, Lebanese, Russian and Swiss.

Our team includes a high percentage of senior consultants , each with each more than 15 years of professional experience, as well as former European Commission and European Parliament officials.

We have a strong public service “DNA”. All partners and several in-house consultants have each spent several years in the EU Institutions or at EFTA, with a mix of services and cabinets’ positions.

Some of our consultants have worked in national administrations as well. In most situations this enables us to anticipate the way the Commission, the European Parliament or the Council will react to a specific argument or a new development because we have experienced something similar “on the opposite side of the fence”.

For employees, Avisa is also different.

1. It supports career development

2. It pays above-average salaries and transparent financial incentives

3. It provides premium working conditions

4. It offers clear prospects of becoming a partner.
